Nursing Experts from the United States, Thailand and Hong Kong, China Visit Xiangya Hospital

On the afternoon of April 21, Lusine Poghosyan, Co-Chair of Primary Care Expert Group of American Nursing College and Assistant Professor of Columbia University, Supanee Senadisai, Chair of the Nurses’ Association of Thailand and Consultant of the Thailand Nursing and Midwifery Committee, Cheng Diyan, Founder and First Chair of Hong Kong Infection Control Nurses’ Association, Li Jinglan, Senior Nurse Practitioner of New York-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital and 6 members of New York State Nurses Association visited Xiangya Hospital, Central South University. They were warly received by Director Li Yinglan of the Nursing Department, Director Wu Anhua of Infection Control Center, Deputy Director Gao Hongmei of the Nursing Department and other staff of Xiangya Hospital. Both parties conducted in-depth exchanges on clinical nursing, nursing research, teaching and management.

The meeting was chaired by Chief Head Nurse Yue Liqing. More than 20 backbone nursing staff attended the meeting.

At the conference, Director Li Yinglan introduced the history and development of Central South University and Xiangya Hospital as well as the achievements the nursing team of Xiangya Hospital has made in the aspects of organizational framework, nursing models, specialty nursing, humane care, nursing quality and team honors. The visiting guests expressed heartfelt praise of the long history of Xiangya Hospital and the achievements accomplished by the nursing team.

All the backbone nursing staff present actively voiced their opinions and raised questions about the medication dispensing in the Pharmacy Intravenous Admixture Services, PICC-DVT of cancer patients, whole course management, and nursing human resources. The visiting guests answered these questions in details by combining theoretical knowledge with clinical experience. In addition, the visiting guests discussed nursing training, tertiary referral system, social worker qualification, health education, research project applications, curriculum design and other topics with the nursing staff present.

After the meeting, the guests visited the Outpatient Department, Ward 54 and Ward 8 of Xiangya Hospital. This visit built an international cooperation and exchanges platform for Xiangya’s nursing team, demonstrated their elegance and strength, and contributed to the development of the nursing discipline of Central South University and the improvement of the clinical nursing quality of Xiangya Hospital.
