Delegation from Rutgers University Visits Xiangya Hospital

On April 12, Prof. Karen Wei-Ru Lin, Associate Dean of Global Health and Professor of Department of Family Medicine and Community Health at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, and Prof. Suzanne Willard, Associate Dean for Global Health of School of Nursing, Clinical Professor and Specialty Director - HIV Care Specialization, Division of Advanced Nursing Practice of Rutgers University, visited Xiangya Hospital, Central South University. They were warmly received by Vice President Tang Beisha and Vice President Lei Guanghua of Xiangya Hospital.







At the discussion meeting, Vice President Lei Guanghua introduced the history, development status and specialty characteristics of Xiangya Hospital. Prof. Karen Wei-Ru Lin, Associate Dean of Global Health at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School of Rutgers University, and Prof. Suzanne Willard, Associate Dean for Global Health of School of Nursing, gave an overview of the two schools which they represent. Afterwards, both parties conducted in-depth exchanges on personnel training, scientific research and other topics, particularly on exchanges and cooperation on nursing training.

In addition, Prof. Karen Wei-Ru Lin and Prof. Suzanne Willard visited the Clinical Skills Training Center and Department of Geriatrics of Xiangya Hospital. The two experts thought highly of Xiangya Hospital’s achievements in medical education, standardized resident training and training of clinical nurses.

It is reported that Rutgers University, The State University of New Jersey, founded in 1766, is one of the top public research universities in the world, the eighth institution of higher education established in the United States and the largest university in New Jersey. It is also one of the 62 members of Association of American Universities and member of Big Ten Conference. It’s known as a “public Ivy League” university in the US and was ranked the 79th worldwide in the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) conducted by Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2017.
